If you come across something that you think you should get rid of but are having a hard time letting it go, put it in the keep pile for now and you can revisit it later. Once you’ve finished sorting, remove all of the sorting containers, leaving just your keep pile.
Evaluate Your Keep Pile
Now it’s time to evaluate, organize, and put away what you’re keeping. Group like items together, evaluating if you need to downsize further based on the quantity of those items. Focus on your vision for your room, and contemplate if all of those items fall into that vision you are creating. If you haven’t used something in the past year, why do you still have it? Evaluate why you are holding onto this item and whether or not you actually need it. There is only so much space in your room, so keep the things that you love and that make you happy and align with your vision.
Make Your Life Easier
Everything you’re keeping should have a place, so if it something doesn’t, then you need to create a “home” for it. Items that you use on a regular basis should be easily accessible, while things that are used less frequently can be put up out of the way. Think about what would make your life easier. Make use of boxes and containers that can help keep things neatly sorted and organized. Label containers if you can’t see what’s inside so that everything is easy to find in the future.
Maximize Your Space
